Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates, its second biggest city. It is the capital of the Abu Dhabi emirate, the largest of the UAE’s seven regions. The official language is Arabic, but English is most widely spoken within Abu Dhabi because of its international population.

The city has a wealth of culture and landmarks to take in, as well as some fantastic festivals, and sports and leisure activities. The city is also especially noted for its outstanding cuisine and hospitality. The city continues to grow and thrive, and the developments we see are linked to the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030, a socio-economic plan to use the booming oil revenues wisely to create a sound economy.

Most of the year the weather is pleasant, and while from May to September the temperature can soar to 40°C+, the buildings and local transport are well air-conditioned. There are many things to explore in this great city which caters well for families. Much more information can be found at the Abu Dhabi tourist board website.

While the culture of the UAE is rooted in Islamic traditions and its heritage, the country is a truly international mix of nationalities from all over the world.
