Reach British School Students Take Reach Radio Global at BSME Conference

Student broadcasters go on air from Abu Dhabi, reaching listeners in more than 46 countries

Abu Dhabi, UAE, 6 February 2026: Students from Reach British School, part of the International Schools Partnership (ISP), delivered the school’s first live radio broadcast beyond campus, going on air from the British Schools in the Middle East (BSME) Annual Conference in Abu Dhabi. The broadcast marked a major milestone for Reach Radio, reaching listeners in more than 46 countries and showcasing ISP’s commitment to learning-first, real-world experiences that build confidence and future-ready skills.

Reach Radio was launched in 2024 by the school’s leadership team to strengthen student voice and build confidence through purposeful communication.

Broadcasting from the BSME Annual Conference in Abu Dhabi gave students a professional platform to plan, present and produce a show on air for an international audience.

The broadcast was fully student-led, with students shaping the programme, presenting live segments and managing production responsibilities. The experience also supported learners developing English as an Additional Language (EAL) by applying English in a live, real-world setting.

Reflecting on the impact of the broadcast on student confidence and communication, Craig Halsall, Principal, said: “Reach Radio shows what happens when we put learning first and give students authentic opportunities to lead. Broadcasting live from the BSME Annual Conference helped our students, including those developing English as an additional language, to communicate with purpose and strengthen essential skills such as teamwork, adaptability and leadership. As part of ISP, we are proud to create international experiences that help students thrive in school and beyond.”

From an ISP perspective, the broadcast also demonstrated how purposeful, student-led experiences make learning tangible. Rory Galvin, Director of Learning, ISP Middle East, said: “ISP’s approach to learning is built around purposeful experiences that make learning tangible. Reach Radio does that by putting students in control of a real broadcast. It strengthens life skills like responsibility, initiative, communication and working well with others.”

For Robyn, the experience was a confidence boost and a proud moment to represent her school. Robyn, a Year 5 student at Reach British School, said: “It was a wonderful experience to be part of Reach British School’s radio team, and I felt very happy and proud. This opportunity helped me gain more confidence and believe in myself, so I would like to thank my school for trusting me and supporting me from the start.”

Reach British School is a British curriculum school located in Baniyas, Abu Dhabi, welcoming students from Early Years to Year 13. The school places a strong emphasis on student voice and communication, helping pupils build confidence, leadership and future-ready skills.
