At Reach British School, we are dedicated to providing a dynamic and enriching educational experience for our students. This academic year, we launched our very own RBS Radio. This exciting platform offers our students the opportunity to not only showcase their talents but also to express their voices and connect with their peers in a fun and interactive manner. Our RBS Radio features a diverse range of podcasts, carefully curated music playlists, and engaging educational content. By tuning in, our school community comes together to celebrate creativity, share knowledge, and foster a sense of belonging. In February, we broadcast our first morning show during assembly time as a soft launch of our radio show. Since then, the station has grown to include a specially tailored programme for Ramadan, interviews with staff, parents and siblings to support careers week and a weekly podcast published on Spotify summing up the week's activities, while interviewing a range of people. Our morning radio show celebrates everything that we hold dear at Reach British School. It is an ambitious project that will eventually be completely student-run, developing skills such as presenting, producing, promotion and editing. For those students who struggle to express themselves on paper or to speak in front of a large crowd, the radio is the ideal medium to build confidence and contribute to school life.Whether it is an interview about the transition to A-levels, an assembly on Sustainability or a Meet the Teacher segment, radio can cover these topics in a concise way, making it more manageable for students, especially those who struggle with written English. The radio involves everyone in our school community, including our weatherman from Year 2 through to Senior students, presenting the news. Excitement has grown around the radio, and students are increasingly contributing their own ideas as the station grows organically. We are now ready to share our Radio programming with all of you. Please head over to our Spotify account and enjoy following our journey.”I think that RBS radio is something that connects people and our school, and I think that it is fun to be on the radio to share who I am and what I enjoy. RBS radio brings the school community together, engaging both the Primary and Secondary students. Everyone has the opportunity to participate,” says Scarlett in Year 12“Radio has been an integral part of my life, especially over the last couple of years. It is an exciting prospect to pass these skills onto younger generations.” – Ms Katy Bailey, Deputy Head of Pastoral in Primary and RBS Radio Host.
