Recognising Excellence in Inclusive Education in the UAE The 9th Inclusion Summit in Dubai brought together teachers, inclusion specialists and education leaders from across the UAE to share ideas, celebrate achievements and explore ways to make education more inclusive for all learners. Organised by Incluzun, the National Inclusive Awards recognise individuals and organisations making a meaningful difference by supporting children of determination and promoting inclusive education. Ms Caroline's 6th-place ranking is a wonderful recognition of her hard work, passion and commitment to helping students overcome challenges and make progress in their learning. Reflecting on her achievement, Ms Caroline shared: "I am honoured to have been recognised among the Top 15 Inclusion Teachers in the UAE, achieving 6th place at the 9th Inclusion Summit in Dubai. This is a proud milestone in my professional journey and a meaningful encouragement to continue advancing inclusive education." She also described the summit as a valuable opportunity to connect with passionate educators and dedicated teams from across the UAE, all working towards a shared goal of creating more inclusive and supportive learning environments. The Oasis Programme: A Vision That Continues to Make a Difference Behind Caroline's achievement is a journey that began with a vision to create more meaningful learning opportunities for children with additional needs. How the Oasis Programme Began During the 2022–2023 academic year, Ms Caroline founded the Oasis Programme at Reach British School, with the support of the school's management team. What began as a small initiative has since developed into a meaningful programme dedicated to supporting students with additional learning needs, helping them develop confidence, independence and the skills to reach their potential. For Ms Caroline, the Oasis Programme represents much more than a professional initiative. It is a deeply personal commitment to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn, thrive and feel valued. Reflecting on the programme's journey, she shared: "As the proud founder of the Oasis Programme at Reach British School, with the support of our great management since 2022–2023, looking back at where we started and seeing how far we have come fills me with immense pride and gratitude. What began as a small vision has grown into something truly meaningful, transforming the learning experiences and lives of children with additional needs." A Shared Achievement with the Inclusion Team Ms Caroline also emphasised that the programme's success has been a collective effort, recognising the invaluable contributions of the Inclusion Assistants who have worked alongside her. "This journey would never have been possible without my incredible Inclusion Assistants, whose dedication, compassion, and phenomenal work alongside me have been at the heart of Oasis's success." Her recent recognition is therefore not only a celebration of her individual achievement but also a reflection of the teamwork, shared purpose and commitment that have helped the Oasis Programme grow. "Oasis is more than a programme to me; it is a vision, a passion, and one of my proudest professional achievements. To see this journey lead to such wonderful recognition is both humbling and deeply rewarding. This recognition belongs not only to me but also to the amazing team who have believed in this vision and helped bring it to life." Looking Ahead: Growing the Oasis Vision Looking ahead, Ms Caroline hopes the impact of Oasis will extend beyond Reach British School, inspiring more opportunities for children with additional needs. "My greatest hope is that one day, what started as a small project at Reach British School will grow beyond our classroom and our school, reaching many more children who deserve the opportunity to learn, thrive, feel valued, and achieve their full potential." Her vision is beautifully captured in a message that reflects the very heart of inclusive education: "Because every child deserves a chance, and every small beginning has the potential to create an extraordinary impact." Creating a School Where Every Child Belongs At Reach British School, we believe that every child is unique, with their own strengths, abilities and learning needs. Our approach to inclusion is built on understanding these differences and ensuring that every student has the support and opportunities they need to succeed. Inclusion is about more than being part of a classroom. It means making sure every child feels a sense of belonging, is encouraged to participate and has the confidence to take on new challenges. For Ms Caroline, this belief is at the heart of her work. "For me, inclusion goes beyond access to education; it is about recognising every learner's potential, removing barriers to participation, and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to grow, belong, and succeed." Through close collaboration between teachers, inclusion specialists and families, we work to create a positive learning environment where students feel understood, supported and confident in their abilities. We recognise that progress looks different for every child. Whether it is developing a new skill, becoming more independent or gaining the confidence to participate in classroom activities, every step forward matters. This reflects our school's commitment to Always Getting Better, helping each student make progress from their own starting point. A Message from Our Head of Inclusion, Dr Sherley Louis "Ms Caroline’s recognition reflects her dedication to understanding each learner’s individual needs and helping them overcome barriers to learning. Her compassionate and student-centred approach makes a meaningful difference, empowering children to develop confidence, independence and a genuine sense of belonging. At Reach British School, under the leadership of our Principal, Mr Craig Russell Halsall and Vice Principal, Mr Andrew du Lieu, inclusion is a shared commitment led by our Inclusion team and built through close partnership with teachers, specialists and families.
