Reach Radio – Giving students a voice

At Reach British School, learning is not only about what happens in the classroom. Reach Radio gives our students a real platform to speak, share, and shine.

Run with the support of our teachers, Reach Radio is a student-led school radio station where learners plan, script and present their own shows. It’s a safe and positive space for students to build confidence, practise public speaking and develop media skills that prepare them for the future.

Students create and present a variety of programmes, such as:

  • Student news updates – celebrating achievements, house events, trips and competitions
  • Music and requests – sharing favourite (age and culturally appropriate) songs and positive messages
  • Interviews and talk shows – with teachers, student leaders and special guests
  • Curriculum highlights – short segments linked to topics in English, science, history and more
  • Culture and languages – opportunities for students to share traditions and, where appropriate, present in different languages

Every show is carefully supervised by staff to ensure content is safe, respectful and aligned with our school and UAE values.

Skills that Reach Radio builds

Through Reach Radio, students learn to:

  • Speak clearly and confidently to an audience
  • Work as a team to plan, rehearse and deliver a show
  • Think critically about topics and ask good questions
  • Use technology and sound equipment responsibly
  • Show leadership and take ownership of a project

Part of everyday school life

Reach Radio broadcasts are shared within the school community at selected times during the week and for special events. Whether they are behind the microphone, writing scripts or managing the technical side, students feel proud to hear their work come to life.

Reach Radio is one more way that Reach British School turns learning into something active, engaging and real-world – and gives every student the chance to find and use their voice.
